Saves, transferring a world, and crossplay

Where Palworld keeps the world and player data, moving it from another host or a co-op session, and which platforms can play together.

Where the save is

Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/<WorldID>/ holds Level.sav (the world), LevelMeta.sav, Players/<PlayerID>.sav (one per player), WorldOption.sav. The <WorldID> is a long hex string. The server uses the ID set as DedicatedServerName. Our egg keeps a fixed one, so the folder stays the same across restarts.

From another host

  1. Download their SaveGames/0/<ID>/ folder.
  2. On PenguHost, stop the server, look up your folder's ID in Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0/, and replace its contents with the downloaded files (keep our ID as the folder name).
  3. Start. Players keep their characters and pals.

From a co-op (Steam) session to the dedicated server

Co-op saves are on the host's PC under %LocalAppData%\Pal\Saved\SaveGames\<SteamID>\<WorldID>\. Copying Level.sav works, but player files are tied to the host's session: every player gets a fresh character on the dedicated server unless you run a save-fix tool (search for Palworld host save fix; it rewrites the player GUIDs). Kowalski can walk you through it; it is a one-time job.

Crossplay

Steam, Xbox/Game Pass, PlayStation 5 and Mac can share a dedicated server when CROSSPLAY_PLATFORMS lists them (default: all). Xbox players cannot enter an IP directly and use the community list, so give the server a name and leave it public, or use a password.
