  1. Order a Hytale server in the dashboard. The panel downloads the server files and Assets.zip (several GB; give it a few minutes).
  2. Start it from the panel. The console shows the world loading and Listening on 0.0.0.0:<port> when ready.
  3. Join: in Hytale, choose Multiplayer → Direct connect and enter node1.penguhost.com:<port> from the Network tab.

Startup variables

  • HYTALE_AUTH_MODE: authenticated (normal) or offline (no account check; only for a closed test).
  • HYTALE_ALLOW_OP: 1 lets you grant operator rights to players.
  • HYTALE_PATCHLINE: release or pre-release.
  • HYTALE_ACCEPT_EARLY_PLUGINS: 1 loads plugins from the plugin folder; unsupported by Hytale, use at your own risk.
  • INSTALL_SOURCEQUERY_PLUGIN / QUERY_PORT: makes the server answer Steam-style queries so server lists and monitoring tools see player counts. Needs an extra port.
  • DISABLE_SENTRY: stops crash reports being sent to Hytale; only useful while developing plugins.

Change a variable, restart, done. Kowalski can do it for you: "enable operators and make me OP".

Operators

With HYTALE_ALLOW_OP on, use the server console to grant a player operator status (the command is shown in the console help; ask Kowalski for the current syntax, since it changes between builds).
