Every server can get a free address under penguhost.com, for example survival.penguhost.com. It is the easiest way to replace node1.penguhost.com:4123 with something your players can remember.
Create it
- Open the dashboard and go to Domains, tab Free server address.
- Pick the server and type a name. We suggest one based on your server name, and the field tells you right away whether it is available.
- Click Create address. It is usually live within minutes.
Rules for the name: 3 to 32 characters, lowercase letters, digits and hyphens (no hyphen at the start or end). One address per server. Some names are reserved (for example www, panel, mail, play, minecraft), and a name somebody else already uses is taken.
How players connect
- Minecraft Java: just
survival.penguhost.com, no port. We create the matching SRV record for your port automatically. - Every other game (Bedrock, Rust, ARK, Valheim, Palworld, 7 Days to Die, Satisfactory, Hytale ...):
survival.penguhost.com:4123, the address plus your port. The dashboard shows the exact line to copy.
The first hour
A brand-new address can take up to an hour to work everywhere. Your router or internet provider may still remember "this name does not exist" from a lookup a minute earlier. If one player cannot connect yet while others can, that is the reason. The old node1.penguhost.com:port keeps working in the meantime. On Windows, ipconfig /flushdns in a command prompt often helps immediately.
Change or remove it
Remove the address in the Domains tab Free server address and create a new one with another name. A website connected to the address is removed together with it. If your server's port ever changes, remove and recreate the address so the SRV record follows, or open a ticket.
Your own domain instead?
You can buy a domain right in the dashboard and connect it with one click. A domain you already own elsewhere works too, see point your own domain at the server. Tip: point it at your penguhost.com address with a CNAME record, then it keeps working even if our IP changes.
